A new benchmark for over-water luxury, innovative dining concepts and holistic wellbeing. Soneva Jani, the brand’s newest luxury resort, encompasses a collection of 51 overwater villas and three island villas set in a 5.6 kilometre private lagoon. The resort spans five islands surrounded by pure white beaches, covered in rich tropical vegetation, offering the ultimate in privacy and luxury.  

Inspired by a word that means ‘wisdom’ in Sanskrit, Soneva Jani is located on a collection of five islands, and a beautiful, 5.6km lagoon. Twenty-four Water Retreats and 27 Water Reserves come with private pools and a retractable roof to stargaze from, while most have slides into the water below. The Scene:
Soneva Jani presents a collection of island sanctuaries and overwater villas set within a lagoon of crystal-clear waters, fringed by pristine beaches and blanketed in lush tropical greenery.

Fifty-one overwater villas on the Retreat and Reserve Jetties are complete with a private pool and a retractable roof to stargaze from the master bedroom, while many have slides into the water below. Stay in a Water Reserve to discover all dining, experiences, spa and more with Soneva Unlimited. Three island villas are nestled in the island foliage, steps from the sandy beach.

Dine on a variety of cuisines, ranging from plant-based fine dining and beach barbeques to elaborate romantic escapades. You can indulge in culinary adventures such as dining around the lagoon, castaway picnics, garden lunches and cooking classes.

Explore the glimmering galaxies from the observatory or enjoy water sports, scuba diving, spa and Ayurveda therapies at the Wellness Centre, or dolphin cruises.

Like all other Soneva properties, the spacious villas feature beautifully designed interiors by Eva Shivdasani, one of Soneva’s co-founders, and are made from the highest quality sustainable materials.

Standout Venue Features:
Inspiring a lifetime of rare experiences, Soneva Jani, set within a lagoon of crystal clear waters, fringed by pristine beaches and blanketed in lush tropical greenery, will allow guests to reconnect with nature. When designing and building Soneva Jani, Founder Sonu Shivdasani was mindful that the area should remain as natural and beautiful as the first day he and Eva laid eyes on it. An evolution of the water villa experience, each master bedroom will feature a retractable roof. Guests will sleep under the stars at a touch of the button, as the roof slides back to reveal the night sky. After an evening in the Observatory, guests will be able to identify Orion, the Southern Cross, the Bear and more constellations as they drift to sleep, with just the sound of the calm lagoon outdoors.

The culinary experiences at Soneva Jani are as diverse as they are memorable, presenting gourmet menus across a variety of cultures and cuisines, organic offerings, simple barbeques and elaborate romantic escapades.

The Gathering
The heart of the resort, the Gathering is a three-storey overwater structure that is home to various dining outlets, as well as the spa, library, retail area and wine cellar. It is located next to the Observatory.

So Fresh
The day begins here with an endless spread of fresh fruits, comforting classics and creative juices from our Juice Bar. The day continues with a bountiful buffet of organic garden salads and live cooking stations with our wood burning pizza oven, tandoors and grills with bespoke pizzas and freshly caught and grilled to order
fish. Sunset aperitifs lead into our mouthwatering evening menus. The sun sets and the Chef takes the stage in the central open kitchen So Fresh, where he creates a myriad of choices.

So Imaginative
Our dedicated tasting room will host Laboratory dinners where our Chef will trick your taste buds and your mind with elaborate disguises. Our Sommeliers create inspired wine tastings and wine dinners, selecting the best from our cellar.

So Engaging
So Engaging is our chefs table offering a mystery menu for 5 very special guests. At Deckadence and our Starlight table, dine under the stars where you can choose from any of the menus the Chef is creating, or try the ultimate stargazing dinner at So Starstruck.

So Starstruck
Our Observatory deck, where our resident Astronomer will be on hand to guide diners around the celestial heavens through our extraordinary Meade telescope, which is linked to the dining table tops. View the stars and planets like never before. Our Chef will inspire with an Eclipse set menu.

The Beach
Our deserted north island is the perfect spot for sunning, swimming and snorkeling. It is located on the northern tip of our lagoon close to the overwater villas, and serves refreshments through the day, with delightful lunches with
the Chef cooking only what he can catch and pick. Taste the
freshest fish, grilled, barbequed or baked in the sand.
Cinema Paradiso
Our overwater, open air cinema is located in a tranquil bay
to the south of the island. Chef will create a perfect menu to
accompany the evening’s film.

Drinks and tapas snacks can be enjoyed at any time at this dayinto-evening overwater bar. Daybeds and overwater catamaran nets overlook the fish filled waters and accompany a light meal or snack. As the sun starts to set, ease into an organic sunset aperitif. Our main bar has one of the best selections of freshly made cocktails, spirits and liqueurs in the Maldives.

So Cool
Soneva is famous for its complimentary Ice Cream, Chocolate and Deli rooms, and at Soneva Jani they are all here in So Cool, with over 50 flavours of ice creams to choose from, handmade chocolates from our in-house chocolatiers and gourmet charcuterie, cheeses and preserves to be enjoyed throughout the day and evening. Our Sushi & Sashimi cold shelf and Wine Cellar are also a part of So Cool.

The Gathering Wine Cellar
Soneva has gained a worldwide reputation for its unique, handpicked selection and world class Sommeliers. At Soneva Jani our wine is housed in a six-metre high glass tower, and the list contains around 50% organic and biodynamic wine. Private tastings and dinners can be arranged above the wine tower in So Imaginative, our beautiful Tasting Room.
